foretrack Case Study: North East Lincolnshire Council - page 2
From Implementation to Operational in a Matter of Days
Once the system was implemented, the team were provided with dedicated training to ensure that they had full use of all its features. Chris comments: “The training was concise and because the system is extremely easy to use, we picked it up very quickly.
We were fully operational within a matter of days, from having had the software installed and tracking devices fitted on the vehicles, as well as configuring the system to our needs and receiving training.”
Staff Consultation & Benefits
Of course, introducing a system such as Foretrack to the public sector also means that staff and unions need to be consulted. North East Lincolnshire Council was keen that the system should be accepted for exactly what it is: a monitoring system which would help them to work more efficiently.
Chris comments: “We explained to the unions of the work force that the system had been installed to help distribute work accordingly through monitoring areas of duplicated working, provide information on whether vehicles have been carrying out their scheduled work, protect individuals from bogus complaints, but also that it may also be used as evidence in disciplinary matters.”
The system has certainly helped to work in favour of the staff on many occasions, as Chris explains: “There have been several instances where people have tried to make a claim against the Council and we have been able to prove that our vehicles have either not been in the vicinity or that our drivers have been driving safely and within the speed limit.
In particular, we recognised a pattern where people would try to claim that their car had been damaged by one of our refuse collection vehicles on bin day, when in fact the car may have been damaged elsewhere. Using Foretrack we are now able to defend our drivers and counteract false claims. This has not only saved us time and money, it has reduced our insurance claims which ultimately helps with our premiums.”
