foretrack Case Study: Dawsetway Ltd
Background
South East London based Dawsetway Ltd was formed in 1987. The company has steadily built a reputation for providing quality and competitive service in all areas of its business, which includes gas, oil, solid fuel and LPG central heating, electrics, draught proofing, cavity wall and loft insulation.
Growing to a fleet of more than 55 engineer and delivery vehicles covering Kent, Surrey, Essex and London on a daily basis, the company recognised the benefits that a tracking system would bring and began installing a system on a few of its vehicles. However, it wasn’t until Phil Danton joined the company as Fleet Manager in 2003 that the benefits of a full fleet management system were explored.
Standing out from the Crowd
Phil Danton had heard of tracking systems through TV advertising and had always thought it would be a useful tool to have for both security and control over the vehicles. When it came to selecting a fleet management system that was easy to access as well as easy to use, Foretrack stood out from the crowd.
Phil comments: “Foretrack gave us a demonstration of their system via a live connection to their test site. We were then given a period of testing and full login details, which enabled me to delve into the working of the site and get a grip of the functionality. We had looked at other sites and I found them both cumbersome and ineffective. Often the sites would only work on specific PC’s that had that supplier’s software installed upon it.
Phil continues: “A web based product such as Foretrack is a much better solution because it means I can not only log into it from a computer anywhere in the world, its browser technology makes it very easy to negotiate. Some web sites try and ‘bamboozle’ you with buttons and gimmicks, whereas Foretrack is set up specifically for the user to be able to negotiate and find the information they want, clearly and efficiently.”
This ability to tailor Foretrack to the requirements of not only the company, but the fleet manager or individual mainly using the system has been a major reason for companies to choose Foretrack over other systems, which are either rigid or inflexible.
Gary Matson at Foretrack explains: “We have designed a system which is both flexible enough to cater for different businesses, as well as the individual needs of the person who is using it. Time and time again, we hear that our approach to the individual needs of the fleet manager is key in determining Foretrack as their choice.”
